Episode 3

Trusting the Shift: When Life Redirects You

The fundamental theme of this podcast episode revolves around the concept of pivoting in life and the necessity of embracing change. The host, J.Malakhi, articulates the experiences of navigating transitions and the inherent discomfort that often accompanies them. He emphasizes that life is characterized by continuous change, likening it to a journey filled with unpredictable twists and turns rather than a linear progression. Throughout our discussion, we explore the significance of recognizing one's patterns during these pivotal moments, thereby empowering individuals to make informed decisions in the face of uncertainty. Ultimately, we underscore the importance of trusting the process, releasing what no longer serves us, and allowing new opportunities to unfold as part of our personal growth.

Welcome to the Trust Release Allow podcast.

Speaker A:

Hello and welcome back to the Trust Release Allow podcast.

Speaker A:

You know, today is February 27th, and I got woken up out of my sleep at about around 5am and I'm realizing that there's been a lack of consistency.

Speaker A:

I've just kind of been flowing when it comes to these podcasts and showing up when I feel called to show up.

Speaker A:

And right now I feel like there's a pivot happening.

Speaker A:

And I know there's probably a lot of y'all who can relate to this energy.

Speaker A:

This pivot energy just feels like things are changing.

Speaker A:

For some of us, they're changing pretty fast.

Speaker A:

And for others, you know, it's just a step by step process.

Speaker A:

They say that, you know, life is about the journey, it's not about the destination.

Speaker A:

Life is constant change.

Speaker A:

Life is ups and downs and curves and twists and turns.

Speaker A:

You know, it's not linear.

Speaker A:

So I just kind of wanted to.

Speaker A:

I wanted to connect with that and speak into it and how it shows up for all of us.

Speaker A:

There's been many times where I felt that I wasn't doing what I was supposed to be doing.

Speaker A:

I wasn't going in the direction I thought I was meant to go in because it didn't look how I thought it was supposed to look.

Speaker A:

But every time there was a pivot in my life, every time things started to uproot and change and become uncomfortable, every time that I had to either walk away or I took my time walking away.

Speaker A:

So I was eventually pushed out or certain opportunities and things were removed from my life.

Speaker A:

I thought something was wrong with me.

Speaker A:

I thought that I was messing up.

Speaker A:

I thought that I was either lazy, not trying hard enough, not doing what I needed to do to sustain whatever it was I thought I was supposed to sustain.

Speaker A:

But as I take my time and I look back on those moments now, I'm able to see a formula and a pattern that's consistently taking place in my life every time.

Speaker A:

You know, I've had many experiences where I remember there was one point in time I had a job and y'all, I did not like this job.

Speaker A:

But I worked my ass off, but I did not like the job.

Speaker A:

And it got to a point where I dreaded going to work.

Speaker A:

And the funny thing is, I was working from home.

Speaker A:

I didn't even have to go into an office, but I dreaded the work that came with this job.

Speaker A:

And I told myself, I just need to try harder.

Speaker A:

I just need to do better.

Speaker A:

I just need to be better.

Speaker A:

And I made it about me thinking that I wasn't doing enough the whole time I was being led to actually leave the job.

Speaker A:

But because I thought I needed to try harder, I needed to do better, kept myself in this space where it was a place I didn't want to be.

Speaker A:

It was a place that made me very unhappy, and it affected everything.

Speaker A:

Everything else in my life was affected based on me feeling like I need to be here and I need to figure this thing out.

Speaker A:

The whole time, it's like, actually, no, you don't.

Speaker A:

Actually, you have other options.

Speaker A:

But if you don't want to see those options, that's fine.

Speaker A:

You can stay here.

Speaker A:

You can stay here.

Speaker A:

You can continue to be uncomfortable when you know it's time for you to leave.

Speaker A:

Y'all know what happened?

Speaker A:

I got fired.

Speaker A:

Actually, I didn't get fired.

Speaker A:

Words mean things.

Speaker A:

I got laid off.

Speaker A:

And I remember getting laid off.

Speaker A:

And when it happened, I was like, you know what?

Speaker A:

I don't even like the job.

Speaker A:

So it is what it is.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna go ahead and apply for unemployment and figure out how to move from there.

Speaker A:

And me getting laid off from that job was the best thing that could have happened to me at that point in time.

Speaker A:

But I promise you, when I was working that job, I did not.

Speaker A:

When I.

Speaker A:

But I promise you, when everything unfolded, oh, no.

Speaker A:

I definitely didn't feel like the best thing that could have happened to me.

Speaker A:

It felt like my life was chaos, and I was just trying to figure out what to do next.

Speaker A:

But me getting laid off is actually what led to me going on an adventure.

Speaker A:

That layoff is what led to a huge pivot in my life.

Speaker A:

Where it went from me living in one state, having to work this job that I didn't really care for, feeling stuck, just feeling stuck to.

Speaker A:

It led to me no longer feeling stuck.

Speaker A:

Was it chaos?

Speaker A:

Yeah, but it was adventure.

Speaker A:

It was an opportunity for me to find a new way.

Speaker A:

And that opportunity eventually led to me having to move out of my apartment because I couldn't afford to stay there anymore with my roommates, you know, so we got rid of the lease and in that time, I had.

Speaker A:

I had an opportunity, was like, okay, what do I do now?

Speaker A:

I have no job, I have a little bit of savings.

Speaker A:

I have nowhere to stay at this point.

Speaker A:

It was in that moment, I was like, hey, yo, is this what freedom feels like?

Speaker A:

Is this what opportunity feels like?

Speaker A:

And I kid you not, it was a interesting feeling, I might even say, like, it was somewhat scary.

Speaker A:

And I remember having.

Speaker A:

I remember one day I was sitting in my room before I moved out.

Speaker A:

I was like, okay, like, all right, God, what are my options?

Speaker A:

And I remember my options being you can go home to your mom's house and be there for a period of time, or you can drive west.

Speaker A:

I kid you not, those are my two options.

Speaker A:

And I sat with it for a week.

Speaker A:

And y'all, I'm gonna be honest, you know, once you move out of your parents crib and you have that freedom, a lot of times, for me, I'm not going back home.

Speaker A:

I'll go home to visit.

Speaker A:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker A:

Moving back in at that point, I'm not.

Speaker A:

Can't do it.

Speaker A:

Next thing you know, I gotta wash the dishes again.

Speaker A:

I got it.

Speaker A:

Nah, I'm not.

Speaker A:

But I still sat with it and I'm like, okay, go home.

Speaker A:

That's stability.

Speaker A:

That's the world that I know already, you know, there's comfort there because I know that there's a room for me, there's a bed for me.

Speaker A:

I know that I'mma have food, you know, And I know that I'll be comfortable enough that I'll eventually be able to figure it out.

Speaker A:

Now I might come up with some other stuff, you know, being with moms and love moms dearly, but I knew that if I go home, I'll be fine to a degree.

Speaker A:

But the second option was go west.

Speaker A:

That was it.

Speaker A:

It was like, hey, yo, just go west.

Speaker A:

And I'm like, am I driving west?

Speaker A:

You know, am I going to the west side of Atlanta?

Speaker A:

And it was like, nah, you gonna get in your car?

Speaker A:

That was what I felt.

Speaker A:

Get in your car and drive west.

Speaker A:

And ultimately, that was the decision I made.

Speaker A:

That was the pivot I made.

Speaker A:

And as I prayed on it, I realized that driving west, I was in Atlanta at the time, meant going to Los Angeles.

Speaker A:

I didn't know what was going to be in Los Angeles.

Speaker A:

I didn't know what I was going to find there.

Speaker A:

I just knew that that's where I was being spiritually led.

Speaker A:

That was my pivot.

Speaker A:

And so that's what I ended up doing.

Speaker A:

And I'll get.

Speaker A:

I'll share more about that experience in full detail at another point in time.

Speaker A:

But I want to get back to the original point, which was the pivot, which was the being pushed out.

Speaker A:

There are times in our lives where we have opportunities and we have choices that don't always make sense to us.

Speaker A:

That might bring up a lot of anxiety or excitement or discomfort.

Speaker A:

But there's also this real internal part of us that knows that's the direction we're meant to go in.

Speaker A:

So sometimes it's, well, how do I make this work?

Speaker A:

What if I told you all you had to do was decide?

Speaker A:

All you had to do was decide, hey, I know it's time for a pivot.

Speaker A:

None of the stuff that's happening around me makes sense right now.

Speaker A:

But I'm deciding that I'm going to make this pivot.

Speaker A:

I'm deciding that I'm going to move in a different direction.

Speaker A:

I'm deciding that even if I don't know the answer right now, I'll be able to figure it out.

Speaker A:

Why?

Speaker A:

Because you figured it out before.

Speaker A:

The thing that you're being called and led to do right now, you have done before.

Speaker A:

I'm not talking about myself.

Speaker A:

I'm talking to you, the person listening.

Speaker A:

Specifically.

Speaker A:

You've done this before.

Speaker A:

Take a moment and pause.

Speaker A:

Pause the podcast.

Speaker A:

Sit with yourself, take a couple minutes and reflect.

Speaker A:

When was the last time you had to make a pivot in your life?

Speaker A:

For the last couple of times, how did that pivot turn out with where you are right now?

Speaker A:

What sorts of things happen with the original pivot that are you that you are noticing now?

Speaker A:

Or there's certain feelings that you experience with a.

Speaker A:

Certain situations that you experience that remind you of the initial pivot.

Speaker A:

If there are.

Speaker A:

Do you have a pattern that you're noticing for yourself?

Speaker A:

If you can find a pattern, you can create a formula.

Speaker A:

So for me, I realized that my pattern was a lot of times certain.

Speaker A:

I would have certain experiences right where I would feel challenged.

Speaker A:

And so sometimes challenge is good because it's propelling you forward.

Speaker A:

But then there's other times when if I'm being challenged and I end up in a space where I start to feel like there's a gray cloud over me all the time, I start to feel frustration and anxiety or I start to feel drained.

Speaker A:

Once that starts to happen, I know right away, all right?

Speaker A:

It's part of my pattern.

Speaker A:

When it's time for me to pivot, I'm able to sit with it and say, okay, let me pay attention to what's happening, and I'm able to start to see things.

Speaker A:

And over time, I'm able to see, okay, yep, this is my formula at play.

Speaker A:

This is what's gonna happen next.

Speaker A:

All right, this experience is first.

Speaker A:

It starts as a thought.

Speaker A:

I don't know how I'm feeling about this thing anymore.

Speaker A:

It's frustrating.

Speaker A:

It's draining.

Speaker A:

It's overwhelming me.

Speaker A:

All right, let me be with it.

Speaker A:

That's the first part of my pattern.

Speaker A:

Then I start to have certain thoughts of, okay, what would it look like if I.

Speaker A:

If I was to let this thing go?

Speaker A:

Then I know that's my formula at play.

Speaker A:

And then I start to have synchronicities around me that let me know, like, yeah, it's time to let that thing go.

Speaker A:

Once I see those things, I know, okay, this is my formula.

Speaker A:

I know that this isn't just me walking away and quitting or giving up on something.

Speaker A:

I know that this is me being pushed out.

Speaker A:

This is me being led.

Speaker A:

This is me going through a pivot stage.

Speaker A:

That's my formula.

Speaker A:

What does yours look like?

Speaker A:

And you have one.

Speaker A:

You do have a pattern.

Speaker A:

So if in this pivot, this moment of pivot, you can see what your pattern is, you might be able to garner a little bit more trust, because you'll realize you've done this before.

Speaker A:

And even though you might feel like you're in chaos or discomfort right now, you always land on your feet.

Speaker A:

You always figure it out.

Speaker A:

This is no different.

Speaker A:

This is just another part of the journey and the experience.

Speaker A:

And all you have to do is decide one that you're going to go through it.

Speaker A:

That's all you got to do is just make that decision and pay attention to.

Speaker A:

Once you figure out that formula, you can use that for comfort.

Speaker A:

But I guarantee you, the pivot that you're making right now is going to lead to something greater.

Speaker A:

You might not be able to see it right right away.

Speaker A:

You might not even notice it as it's becoming greater.

Speaker A:

It might not even truly make sense to you until you're looking back on it.

Speaker A:

However, this is just a part of your process.

Speaker A:

All is well, you're safe, you're okay, and everything is gonna work out exactly how it's meant to.

Speaker A:

Just follow your flow and trust the pivot.

Speaker A:

And y'all already know the mantra.

Speaker A:

I trust, I release.

Speaker A:

I allow, I trust, I release.

Speaker A:

I allow.

Speaker A:

I trust this pivot.

Speaker A:

I release any doubts, fears, questioning about where I'm headed next.

Speaker A:

And I'm open to allowing things to unfold as they're meant to.

Speaker A:

I'm open to the experiences that are about to unfold in my life.

Speaker A:

I'm open to the different ways that abundance will show up.

Speaker A:

But I'm open to allowing this experience to be what it is.

Speaker A:

I trust.

Speaker A:

I release.

Speaker A:

I allow.

Speaker A:

I trust.

Speaker A:

I release.

Speaker A:

I allow.

Speaker A:

All you have to do is trust release what needs to be released and allow it to unfold.
